Abilities:
- Police Detective: A talented homicide detective, Joseph is highly intelligent and organized with sharp deductive skills. He's more observant than the average person.
- Lockpicking/Bomb Disposal: Joseph is shown to be skilled at picking even complicated locks and dismantles complex explosive devices without breaking a sweat. This seems to be a unique skill of his, perhaps suggesting previous experience on a bomb squad or other specialized training.
- Combat: Though he is the bookish type, Joseph can hold his own in a fight. He's physically fit and comfortable with multiple types of firearms and improvised weapons (fire axe, molotov cocktails.) He uses violence only as a last resort, but doesn't flinch if the need arises.
[First Impressions]
Visual: Here. Japanese (Canadian-born), 5'9" with a slim but deceptively strong build. Black hair and dark brown eyes. Almost always wearing his glasses and usually a pair of black leather gloves. In public, if he has any choice in the matter, he's dressed sharply and professionally.
Aural: Joseph's voice is pleasant, gentle and polite with the occasional deadpan dry wit. He uses precise vocabulary and is prone to lectures and long explanations, the nerd. VA: Yuri Lowenthal
Olfactory: Clean, soap and aftershave. Leather. The slightest bit of secondhand cigarette smoke.
Demeanor: Reined-in and professional. Always. Joseph tries to stay as calm as patient as possible, only getting rankled or irritated when he's stressed out or tired. He generally only unclenches around friends and away from public settings.

Joseph's canon includes discussions of mental illness, depression, suicide, alcoholism, extreme violence, body horror, institutional abuse (of mental patients), and child death. Joseph won't walk around openly discussing things like that, and I will clearly mark when it comes up in metatext/descriptions. Please let me know if you want to avoid any of these topics entirely when we are threading, I will be happy to do so.

Psychic/Mental Information: Joseph is still very sensitive to having his mind read or rummaged through after his experiences in STEM. He is shown to suffer from perfectionism (in the clinical, obsessive sense) as well as bouts of suicidal depression.
Magical Information: N/A, he has no defenses against this.
Medical Information: Joseph has astigmatism. He isn't completely blind without his glasses but has a hard time being useful without them.
Offensive Subjects and Triggers: Still traumatized from STEM, Joseph is deeply afraid of losing control of himself or having his mind and vulnerabilities used against him. Illusions and hallucinations will frighten him into a panic very quickly. He shuts down when it comes to discussions about his mental health, particularly about his depression.

Kinklist below, if it comes up. Joseph is bisexual with a slight preference for women. Relationships are really more about trust to him than they are about what body the other person happens to have. Being a tightly-wound control freak, he has a preference to be in control/dominant during intimate encounters but will be more flexible if he trusts the other person (and dear god does he need to unclench sometimes.) I play him as a switch.
