[Whoa, whoa, whoa. One thing at a goddamn time, here. There's a moment of stunned silence on Joseph's end there, where it's easy to imagine his jaw dropping.

That... was not what he expected her to be asking for.

There's another minor fire he feels the need to put out first, though. He isn't the type to kiss and tell, but well... someone told first, apparently.]

Go back to that first thing, though. That's what she was after?

[Sebastian has absolutely no idea what his emotions are doing in regards to Joseph's admission, so he just lets it go for now. His head is spinning; what a strange bit of news to have gotten in a strange place like this.]

That's what she told me. She also said that she didn't want to come to you about it first. She was afraid that your brain might short-circuit or something.

[He's actually a little surprised this is apparently news. He'd assumed Clara and Sebastian were sleeping together a long time ago-- though of course, Sebastian sleeping with other people who weren't Joseph is nothing new for him to tamp down emotionally.

As though he has any claim to Sebastian anyway. There's some awkward thoughts for later.

He laughs under his breath at her reasoning.]

Well, I- guess I can't blame her for thinking that, really.

[A pause.]

Though I can't say the mental image isn't...

[Another, awkward pause.]

What did you tell her?

Well I asked her if she'd run it by you yet, and she said no, and then she asked me to ask you. So here I am. I tried to tell her that the three of us should talk about this all at once, but I guess she wanted to make sure that nobody would be upset or offended before that could happen.

[Well, that all makes sense. And it's quite reasonable. Joseph isn't quite sure how he feels about being the alleged wild card here, but again, it's not like he doesn't get why someone would get that impression from him.]

No, I'm not upset, or offended. I think...

[He drifts off for a moment.]

I know you're asking me, so you didn't completely hate the idea. But is it actually something you'd want?

[There's a moment of noticeable and uncomfortable hesitation on his end as he can't seem to find the right words.]

It isn't something I have a lot of experience with. You know how I am.

[Jealous, possessive, petty, sensitive, paranoid, slightly insecure. Come on, Joseph, this isn't news to you.]

Yeah, I know you. And I don't need to tell you that I've never had any kind of experience like that.

[It's not judgmental or accusatory, just matter-of-fact. They've known each other long enough for that kind of thing to be old news. Sebastian's the jealous type, and Joseph doesn't get out much.]

The most important thing would be that everyone is comfortable, if we ever did decide to try.

Well, that's the thing. I can say now that I'm okay with it, but when push comes to shove, I'm not sure that I will be.

[Hey, he's just being honest. It's impossible to predict how he'll deal with this once he's actually faced with it.]

Obviously, if we did, we'd have to go in agreeing that any one of us can put a stop to it at any time. That's- that's how things like that are supposed to go, as I understand it.

Clara respects you, Joseph, and I don't think she knows you as well as she knows me. She doesn't want you to think less of her.

[At least... that's his interpretation of it. He could be totally off base, but that was the impression he got.]

[Sebastian is usually pretty on-target with this kind of thing. It's a much nicer explanation than "Joseph is a prude" anyway, since that's what he was assuming.]

I think you're right. She seemed worried I would think less of her before, too.

[He takes a little breath, a little more at ease.]

Tell you what. Why don't we let the idea sink in a little bit before we get too far ahead of ourselves?

[He's obviously smiling as he adds the next bit.]

This isn't one of our typical cases, after all. It's much more unpredictable.
