You are aware Mr. De Luca had him under house arrest? I'd hoped it would be more permanent. Mr. Brando is a beast of a man who deserves not the slightest bit of worship, pity, or sympathy.
[If these words are not setting off alarms, Joseph, they probably should be.]
I was not. How exactly was Mr. De Luca enforcing that?
I'm well aware how troublesome he's been, and has the potential to be. In fact, I'm more worried about him flying off the handle than anyone else here.
[So he tries to not think about it as much as he can, whenever he can, to avoid giving himself an ulcer.]
Are you truly aware, detective? I know of at least four people he's had his way with here against their will. I believe that is why he was under house arrest. I shouldn't wonder at that sort of pattern.
Yes. I am aware. I didn't learn about any of that until well after it had happened, and long after the issue had already been confronted by others.
I feel horrible about it. I don't know what Sebastian or I would have done, but we should have done something when it mattered. I don't intend to make that mistake again.
[sorry monty seb has officially stolen joseph's phone. and he's been drinking.]
Navarro, it's Detective Castellanos.
First off, why wait until now to tell us this? If you want to confide in us as detectives, then treat us like detectives. Not as book keepers or hit men. We need to know when things like this happen, not just how to kill people with no context given. Which leads me to -- secondly, what's your plan for Brando? And don't tell me you don't have one.
As I said, I was enlightened as to the means to destroy Mr. Brando only this morning. I saw little point of informing you of grievances without some means to defend against the man causing them if he became an immediate threat. Particularly grievances that were not my story to tell.
[Not his story on 3 out of 4, anyway. There's an uncomfortable twist in Monty's gut at the half-truth for some reason.]
Or personal matters I've been seeing to myself. [That... that alleviates some of the discomfort, at least.]
My plan at the moment is to do nothing unless he makes himself an immediate threat. You'll be pleased to know I couldn't bring myself to go through with killing him when I last had the opportunity.
We now have a vicious scorpion woman roaming the catacombs. Mr. Brando is known to descend to the catacombs regularly to wander and do as he'd like. It would serve as a very good lesson to everyone not to linger in that place were he to go down and never come back up.
Wrong answer. The correct answer is, "tell Detective Castellanos and Detective Oda immediately so that they can handle the situation instead of pulling a stupid stunt that will probably get me killed."
[sorry monty... like i said, he's been drinking... 8'(]
And what is it you'd do, detectives? Would you stop him? This is a man who uses mind control to force people to service him when there is absolutely no need to! He just wants to humiliate them, to punish them, make you feel entirely weak and helpless. He has no remorse save when some wretched rumor is compelling him to have it. He would deserve anything he gets.
[Sebastian may not be drunk enough, yet, to handle this conversation.]
I could say all the same shit to you. You're out of your fucking mind if you think that you can pull something like this off. Joseph and I have both the training and experience to deal with Brando, whether you want to believe that or not. You're going to get yourself killed, or worse. Don't be a hero, and don't make me repeat myself.
[aaaaaaand with that little rant of dad voice in text, seb drops joseph's phone back into his lap B(]
[It's rather like talking to Renart about it the first time. She hadn't thought him capable, either. And she'd been entirely right. He'd had the moment, he could have done it, and he'd hesitated, run away instead of taking the actions he should have.
He wants to rail at Sebastian, to tell him he's not in charge, that this exchange is on Monty's terms, and that he is in charge. That wouldn't really be directing the feelings of impotent rage at their intended target, though. And Monty's already dealt with screaming at Renart and upsetting her. He doesn't intend to make that mistake twice.]
I asked Mr. Brando to remove his ability to use his mind control on me for a very specific reason, detective. You might surmise for yourself whether worse has already happened. But very well. I will inform you if I feel Mr. Brando is an immediate threat. However, I will make no guarantees about my own actions should you not take what I consider appropriate measures.
[If the diction doesn't make it obvious, Joseph has his phone back now.]
I may have shown some hesitance to act in the capacity of law enforcement here in the past. Call it cowardice or complacency, if you like, and I would deserve the judgment. But I don't have the luxury to hesitate anymore. The situation with Mr. Demyx opened my eyes to that fact-- as have the ongoing troubles with Mr. Brando.
Detective Castellanos and I will do what we're trained to do, and do what we need to do to keep the peace around here. It's our job to put our lives on the line for the common good, and to take the necessary measures as the law prescribes-- not what other people think is or isn't appropriate.
Please keep us informed. Don't keep secrets from us. We'll take care of business.
[He does have other information he should probably share about the latest crop of new-comers and the threats they pose. A very petty part of him wants to tell them to keep themselves informed. But Joseph, at least, sounds like he knows some action will need to be taken.]
Xion - A cannibalistic deer-creature called a Wendigo has some sort of secondary form fueled by fog. She has threatened to remove my hands after I initially refused to remove her name from the public record.
Namine - Also a Wendigo, though she seems far less inclined to threaten violence.
Sol Badguy - An enhanced human called a Gear. He has fire powers and is extremely guarded about his past to the point that he slammed my head against a wall for naming him as a Gear in my record and initially refusing to change his species back to 'human.'
Axel - A Nobody and former member of Organization XIII. He was directly responsible for Mr. Zexion's murder in his own timeline.
Marluxia - Another Nobody and former member of Organization XIII. He was apparently a defector of some sort. Shy, but still likely worth keeping an eye on. His abilities appear to center around making flowering plants grow and work to his whim.
I've already had a bad feeling about Ms. Xion, and Mr. Zexion warned me about Mr. Marluxia. But thank you for the rest of the names. I'll take notes immediately.
Even if the public record gets changed, please don't allow anyone to intimidate you out of your private records. We need all the information we can get.
