I wonder, perhaps, if belief might be of use here. Could one simply believe another's addiction away, do you imagine? I haven't tried using it like that before.
I haven't either. I would say I don't think it would work like that, but we've had multiple occasions when belief powers very much did affect other people, even without their permission.
I think it would be more effective if you could get the person to believe it themselves. Addiction works on a chemical level almost like a belief power in itself-- that person believes that they need more of the substance or they'll die. They may even feel physical symptoms that suggest as much. It's very difficult to go through, and many people fail unless they have help.
I'll consult Ms. Enda. She might have some notion if we could combine belief and proper medicines or some program. I do wish we had a proper doctor here. It would make things like this far easier. Thank you, detective.
Yes, sir. She's claimed as much, anyway. I suppose we'll find out how much training she has. I know the feeling. More engineers and the like wouldn't go amiss, either. We need to get the electricity working next. I wouldn't know the first place to start with that. It's not as simple as breaking off the top of a tunnel and just fixing the bed.

Still, I have been hoping that one of our new arrivals might be a doctor each one that arrives. As much as I wouldn't wish this place on anyone.
