Aletheia has never been less than perfectly honest about who and what she is. I don't think it's possible for her to do otherwise. What she hasn't been forthcoming about is what she means.

We certainly didn't put it here. It showed up here with the rest of the fortress, right after Aletheia's "game" ended. Its purpose was discovered on accident, and we've kept our distance from it sense.
The Historians do hold Aletheia in reverence, so it's very likely that they put it here originally.

I don't know about the Hedonists being right. Aletheia does have a point about our use of resources-- eventually, we need to stop relying on delusions and find some real source of sustenance, like we did with the aqueduct.
But she believes only in absolute truth, and they believe in nothing but delusions. The real world isn't so cut and dry and ideologically pure.
Exactly. If she's trying to usurp what reality should be, I realize you may not like it, but helping Sophia might be our only chance, if we can. Aletheia might even try to kill her and I don't want to think about how that could make things even worse.
What we need is more information to go on. We still know almost nothing about Sophia, besides what she's the avatar of. She could have her own destructive agenda that we aren't aware of. I don't think we should be blindly devoting ourselves to any so-called deities when we've barely got our feet on the ground.

And you're right about needing more information, but you're a detective as well. I've been looking at Monty's account on Aletheia's rescue and looking at it in this new light is...well.
I wasn't referring to the Hedonists being right about living on delusion alone. I'm saying it's possible that Aletheia might have been involved in the end of the world. Although, you're right that it's too soon to say that for certain. I'm just bringing it up as a possibility.
